Calling Out Mitch McConnell and the Republican Agenda

Conservatives nowadays can't seem to eat a meal in peace at restaurants. The latest incident involved Senator Mitch McConnell.

To recap: McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao (Transportation Secretary) were partaking at a restaurant serving Cuban food called Havana Rumba in Louisville, Kentucky. Eventually a woman, angry as hell, came up to McConnell and called him a traitor. Fellow diners applauded. She added, "Why don't you get out of here? Why don't you leave the entire country?" Then, a man came along and slammed his fist down on McConnell's table. The man was just as angry because of McConnell's stance on Social Security and other social programs, and yelled to the diners that "They're going to come for Social Security!" He then took McConnell's to-go food and dumped it out on the side walk.

People are pissed, and rightfully so. McConnell has a disdain for social programs and would want to see them eliminated. He blames these programs for the rising deficit. But that isn't the cause. It's obviously clear that McConnell and his GOP buddies have worsened the deficit by giving huge tax breaks to the rich. McConnell of course is too cowardly and conniving to admit this. The rich have benefitted very well, getting 82.8% of the tax cuts. McConnell and the GOP have proven whose class interests they protect and whose class interests they reject. Thus, the anger.

But some have criticized the public harassment of public figures. It isn't civil and could backfire. When it comes to the Republican Party, civility isn't a priority. Their agenda is justification enough to get in their faces. They are hell-bent on maintaining and expanding private monopoly at any cost; where the few have too much while the many have too little. They don't really care about the consequences of their agenda.

So non-violent confrontation, as one tactic among many, is necessary since a lot people will get hurt from the Republicans' handiwork. Labor is struggling while capital makes record profits. It is inevitable that there will be a backlash.

But could getting in the face of the Right backfire? I don't think so. Trump and the Right have done and said such outrageous things that I doubt they will garner the sympathy of most people. And the latter, if at least most vote, will eventually wipe away the power the Republicans currently have in Congress and the Presidency.

As for eating out at restaurants, maybe the Right should get delivery from now on.
